Kevin Durant’s nasty Instagram feud with Michael Rapaport is blowing up in his face.
Kevin Durant has never seen a social media battle he didn’t like, from burner accounts to Twitter spats with random unverified trolls. However, his most recent performance has compelled the Nets to have a lengthy discussion with their superstar player, and may even land him in hot water with the NBA.
After actor Michael Rapaport made public a series of private messages Durant sent him via social media — some of which were misogynistic, homophobic, and threatening — the league is aware of the situation and determining its next course of action. It is unknown if Durant will face any repercussions.
Meanwhile, a team source stated to The Post that the Nets reached out to the All-Star forward and talked with him. The source refused to identify who spoke with Durant personally and stated that the nature of the discussion would be held “in-house.”
Durant wishes the same thing about his remarks to Rapaport.
“Me and Mike have crazier discussions than this on a daily basis, and he’s pissed today,” Durant tweeted. “My fault, Mike!!”
The two have obviously known each other for years, with Durant even providing tickets to the NBA Finals for the New York native when he was a Golden State Warriors player. Rapoport actually posted a video in which he expresses his dissatisfaction with Durant’s seat position.
However, their latest spat appears to have started in December, when Rapaport weighed in on an interview the Nets forward conducted with Charles Barkley and the “NBA on TNT” crew in response to Barkley’s criticism of Durant.
“KD seemed to be in a state of deep emotion with the [NBA on TNT] crew following the game,” Rapoport tweeted. “DAMNIT, he’s extremely sensitive to everything. Do not engage in the interview.”
That appears to have set Durant off, and the two engaged in a months-long dispute during which Durant referred to Rapaport as a “b—h” and a “d—head.” The actor retaliated, asking the Brooklyn star to “go help the children in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and stop being such a f—ing p—-.”
He also ridiculed Rapaport’s failed case against Barstool creator David Portnoy — causing Portnoy to applaud Durant for taking on Rapaport — and claimed that the actor’s wife lacked respect for him, threatening to “spit in your face.” He challenged Rapoport to either meet him at 10 a.m. on West 17th St. or have his own address.
Durant — who has been out of action since Feb. 13 due to a hamstring strain — now has to think about more than just his recovery and justifying himself to his squad.
