Elon Musk revealed that Tesla would host a delivery event for the much-anticipated Model S Plaid, the company’s upcoming range-topping electric saloon.
Elon Musk said on Twitter that the new Model S Plaid would be the “fastest production car ever” with a 0-60 mph time of less than two seconds.

Three high-performance electric motors with carbon-sleeved rotors will power the new Model S Plaid, totaling 1,020 horsepower. Tesla states that the most powerful Model S is also capable of traveling 390 miles (627 kilometers) on a single charge and completing the quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds, but if that isn’t enough, there is always the Plaid+ version.
The Plaid+ version of the Model S delivers an additional 1,100 horsepower from its three electric motors, reducing the quarter-mile time to less than 9 seconds. Additionally, it can fly over 520 miles (836 kilometers) on a single charge and reach a top speed of 200 mph (322 kilometers per hour), always according to Tesla. Recently, test vehicles were spotted at Laguna Seca, and reports indicate that they may have set an EV record.
Among the numerous improvements, Tesla stated during their annual financial presentation for 2020 that they added a new heat pump to the new Plaid models, allowing for five times the number of quarter-mile runs previously possible.
The latest Model S Plaid begins at $119,990, while the more strong Plaid+ begins at $149,990, all prices exclusive of a $1,200 destination charge.
Tesla previously stated that deliveries of the new Model S Plaid and Plaid+ will begin later this year, but we anticipate learning additional information at the event.
