It’s the most bizarre choice for a host, live from New York.
Elon Musk will host “Saturday Night Live” on May 8, according to a tweet from the show on Saturday.
If the news has you wondering how Lorne Michaels is doing, you are not alone.
Apart from his technology investments and multibillion-dollar fortune, Musk is known for some head-scratching tweets and controversial conduct. He joins a select group of magnates who have hosted the program, including Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and billionaire Steve Forbes.
Donald Trump, a New York City developer and reality show host, hosted in 2004 and again in 2015, during his presidential campaign.
Musk, according to some Twitter users, is an equally poor choice.
Timothy Burke, a writer, captioned a picture from Trump’s 2015 hosting gig, “from the file of Lessons Never Learned.”
A day earlier, SpaceX and NASA launched the Dragon spacecraft on its second operational flight from the Kennedy Space Center, carrying four additional astronauts to the International Space Station.
To singer Richard Marx, Musk’s hosting gig means a great deal.
Marx tweeted, “I would rather watch a fly crawl up a drape or the worst episode of the worst television show ever 88 times in a row than watch Elon Musk do something.”
Musk will be joined by Miley Cyrus, who will make her sixth appearance as a musical guest.
