Who was Panya Kamrab, the suspect in the Thailand mass shooting?
The Central Investigation Bureau says that Panya Kamrab, a former Thai police officer who is suspected of killing at least 34 people, including 22 children, at a day care center, has killed himself (CIB).
The man, who was a former police officer, was 34 years old. He also killed his wife and child, the CIB said. It’s not clear if the shooter and his family are among the people who have died so far.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s office says that the shooting happened Thursday at the Child Development Center in Uthaisawan Na Klang district, Nong Bua Lamphu province.
“The prime minister said he was sorry about the shooting,” the statement said.
Compared to other Southeast Asian countries, there are a lot of guns in Thailand.
Mass shootings are rare in the United States, but in 2020, a soldier killed 29 people in a shooting spree that started at a military site and ended when the gunman went into a mall.
