According to authorities, a man was killed and an alleged suspect was captured during a restaurant shooting in Millington.
A man has died as a result of a shooting at a nearby restaurant.
Millington Police responded to a gunshot at the Margarita restaurant, 8507 TN-3 #112, shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday.
According to a release, the shooting occurred following the removal of an agitated customer from the premises.
Prior to the shooting, the victim intervened in an issue with the shooter and assisted management in removing him from the premises, according to a press release.
After being escorted from the restaurant, the suspected shooter returned around 20 minutes later.
The gunman then began shooting at the victim, Timothy Carver, 55, a lifelong Millington resident, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the spot.
Millington Police investigated throughout the night, and at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the multiagency gang unit helped the Millington Police Department in apprehending a suspect, 30-year-old Jutson McKnight of Memphis, according to a release.
Millington is experiencing its first homicide of the year and its second in the last three years.
