Jimmy Kimmel calls Caitlyn Jenner a ‘ignorant a-hole’ for her remarks about the homeless community.
Jimmy Kimmel has unloaded on Caitlyn Jenner following outrage about her tone-deaf remarks on homelessness.
Jimmy Kimmel has slammed Caitlyn Jenner for remarks she made to Fox News about homeless people in California.
Jenner, who is currently running for Governor in the state, explained to the reporter that her affluent friends were fleeing the state due to the state’s high rate of homelessness.
She made a particular reference to a friend who was “setting up his hangar” at an airport.
“The gentleman directly across from me was packing up his hangar,” Jenner said. “And he announces, ‘I’m relocating to Sedona, Arizona.’ I’ve had plenty. I am unable to walk down the streets and see homeless people.'”
As predicted, many people condemned the remarks as ‘tone-deaf,’ with Jimmy Kimmel Live host reiterating those sentiments on Thursday night’s broadcast.
“Is referring to a trans person as an insensitive a**hole transphobic?” Kimmel inquired after the airing of a clip from Jenner’s interview.
“Or does labeling the trans individual an ignorant a**hole — regardless of her gender identity — demonstrate that we do not discriminate against ignorant a**holes? It’s a difficult one,” he said. “I’m not sure. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what the internet decides tomorrow.”
Jenner declared her candidacy for Governor of California in April, which was met with skepticism by many of her critics.
Her Fox News interview was her first television appearance following her announcement.
“Over the years, this state has done so much for me,” she told the interviewer. “However, I’ve seen it collapse in front of my eyes. California is worth defending, and that is precisely what I am doing.”
Additionally, the polarizing actress has confirmed in recent weeks that she is opposed to transgender girls competing in sports against other girls.
“I believe we must ensure the dignity of female sports; I believe this is critical.”
