The London Tower Bridge remains open, causing major traffic chaos on both sides of the River Thames.
Due to a technical fault, London’s famous Tower Bridge has become stuck in the open position, causing traffic backups on both sides of the River Thames.
The bridge, which allows boats to pass beneath by raising the road that crosses it, became immobile shortly before 2.45pm, a City of London police spokeswoman said.

Traffic has built up on both sides of the Tower Bridge, which the City of London Corporation owns, finances, and manages.
Tower Bridge is one of several bridges spanning the River Thames that connect the capital’s central and southern districts.
The duration of the bridge’s immobility is unknown.
The City of London Police, which patrols the area, has advised residents to avoid it.
