Danny Masterson claims that Leah Remini improperly influenced his rape trial.
Danny Masterson seeks a stay of execution in his rape trial, blaming Leah Remini
Danny Masterson is refusing to defend himself against rape accusations — and is blaming Leah Remini for it.
Masterson filed papers in Los Angeles this week claiming that Remini’s well-documented anti-Scientology campaign has extended to his court case.
According to TMZ, which obtained the papers, Masterson, 45, alleges that Remini pushed the three women in his case — all Jane Does — to file complaints with the Los Angeles Police Department, with two of them coming forward only after being encouraged to do so by Remini.
According to TMZ, Masterson’s papers allege that Remini’s fame has the prosecution “starstruck” and that she maintains a tight friendship with LAPD detectives, “even using them as her personal protection.”
Additionally, he alleges that Remini, 50, accompanied the women as they made comments to investigators.
The star of “That ’70s Show” is requesting additional time to plan his defense.
Masterson pleaded not guilty in January to raping three women following his arrest in June 2020. The actor is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in the winter of 2001, a 28-year-old woman in April 2003, and another 23-year-old woman between fall and winter 2003.
Prosecutors allege that all of the accidents happened at his Hollywood Hills residence. Masterson faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in jail if convicted.
“At long last, victims are being heard with regards to Scientology,” Remini tweeted in response to the filing of rape charges against Masterson.
“This is just the beginning, Scientology,” the actress added in her dispatch. “Your days of getting away with something are numbered!”
