Before the finals, the Dusty Martin scandal is the worst nightmare of the AFL
AFL legends have told the truth about the Dustin Martin scandal, which has shocked the football world.
Garry Lyon, a football legend, says that the Dustin Martin video scandal is the AFL’s “worst nightmare” just hours before the 2022 Finals Series starts.
Thursday morning, football commentators criticized Martin for his actions in a viral video where he seems to touch a topless woman on the breast.
The footage is being looked into by the AFL.
“We’ve heard about a video that was put on social media. A spokesperson for the AFL said, “We want to know more.”
On the video, it looks like Martin grabs the woman’s breast from behind while she is sitting on the lap of another man.
The details of the video have not been confirmed, but reports say it shows Martin at an end-of-season party in 2017. It is said to have been taken in a strip club or bar.
On Thursday morning, both Lyon and his fellow SEN Breakfast host Tim Watson said that Martin’s behavior in the video is “unacceptable.”
Martin is playing his first game back for the Tigers against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Thursday night, the same day that the scandal is going on.
Lyon said it was bad for the AFL.
“That would be the AFL’s worst nightmare at the start of this finals series for a lot of different reasons,” Lyon said.
“From a behavior point of view, to the attention they want, to the circus that is going to happen in Brisbane now that Dusty is back to playing football after being out for a very long time. Now, whether you like it or not, this will be the main point.
“It’s a disaster for the AFL, and it doesn’t matter what time it is.
Lyon said that the AFL could respond to the video in a similar way to how it did when Collingwood star Jordan De Goey was caught on video in a Bali nightclub appearing to expose a woman’s breasts.
“I don’t know what to say about this except that you are responsible for your own actions,” he said. “From Jordan’s point of view, touching someone without their permission is not okay, whether you know them or not. That’s why it will be a problem and why it will be a story that keeps getting worse as the day goes on.”
Watson, who used to play for Essendon, also said, “That kind of behavior is not okay anywhere in the world.” No matter what, it’s never a good idea to grab someone on the breast.”
Lyon criticized De Goey earlier this year for “selfish behavior that is not acceptable in any way.”
In the end, the Collingwood star was given a $25,000 fine that was put on hold, but he also lost a very good contract offer.
Damien Hardwick, the coach of Richmond, was asked about the Martin video on Wednesday afternoon, but he gave straight answers.
“There’s an old video of Dusty from what looks like 2017 on Twitter this afternoon. I think it was taken at a Richmond event. “Do you know about that? Have you watched that video?” Tom Browne, who works for 7 News, asked.
“No,” replied Hardwick. “I’m not certain.”
Martin, who is 31, is thought to be one of the best AFL players ever.
But even though he has done great things on the field, he has been in a lot of trouble off of it.
In 2012, he missed a training session and was kicked out of the club for two weeks.
In 2013, he was caught going through a red light, and in 2014, he was fined because he was not allowed to drive.
Martin was accused of making threats in a Melbourne, Australia, Japanese restaurant in 2015.
Dusty has had a hard year since his father Shane died at his home in Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand, on December 17, 2021. Shane was 54 years old.
Shane died of heart disease, and drugs and steroids were in his body at the time.
After his death, tests showed that Mr. Martin had a 600-gram enlarged heart, which is about twice as big as a normal man’s heart.
