A 37-year-old man has been charged with murder after what is thought to be the body of missing mother Shereen Kumar was found in bushland in the north-west of Sydney.
A 37-year-old man was charged with murder after a body was found in bushland in Sydney’s north-west while people were looking for a woman who had gone missing.
The body, which hasn’t been officially identified yet, was found in Dural. Shereen Kumar, who was 43 and had been missing for three days, is thought to be the person who died.
Police were told that Ms. Kumar was last seen leaving her home on Taylor’s Road in Dural on foot at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday. She was wearing her pajamas and a purple dressing gown.
The body was found in a bushy area off Laurie Road on Saturday around 5:50 p.m., after PolAir and the Dog Unit helped coordinate a police search.
On Saturday, just after 11:30 p.m., a 37-year-old man was arrested at a home on Taylor’s Road in Dural for what police say was domestic violence.
He was taken to the Hornsby Police Station and charged with murder.
A spokesperson for the NSW Police said in a statement, “A man will be charged today after the body of a woman was found during a search in Sydney’s north west.”
“On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 5:50 p.m., during the search, police found the body of a woman in bushland off Laurie Road in Dural.”
There was a crime scene set up, and now forensic police are looking at it.
The 37-year-old man has been denied bail and will have to go to Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday to answer for his actions.
