From the prosecution:
According to Greg McMichael’s lawyer, the defense is pursuing a two-pronged strategy: citizen’s arrest and self-defence.
“They got into the truck to pursue Mr Arbery in order to delay him long enough for the police to arrive and take control and examine whether he had done any crimes,” attorney Franklin Hogue explained.
“That morphed into self-defence from a citizen’s arrest.”
Late in the trial, the attorneys sparked controversy when one objected to the presence of “black preachers” in the courtroom. Kevin Gough, the plaintiff’s attorney, described it as an attempt to frighten the predominantly white jury. He then issued an apology for the statements.

What was Ahmaud Arbery’s background?
His father, a former great high school football player, said his son frequently exercised in the neighborhood.
According to his family, he is a decent, generous young man with a huge heart.
Mr Arbery received five years of probation in high school for a first-time firearms offence and was convicted of probation violation for stealing in 2018, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
It was revealed that a Glynn County cop attempted to tase him in 2017 after he refused to allow them to check his car in a park.
The interaction was captured on police bodycam footage. Officers stated that he was in a car in an area notorious for drug use. He stated that he was taking the day off from work. He was permitted to flee on foot after the taser malfunctioned.
