CNN President Jeff Zucker resigned because he didn’t tell anyone about his relationship with a coworker.
In a memo to staff on Wednesday, Jeff Zucker said that he was leaving CNN.
Jeff Zucker is leaving his job as president of CNN Worldwide.
Zucker, 56, said he was leaving in a memo to staff on Wednesday. The media executive said that the decision for him to resign was made because he didn’t tell anyone about a “consensual relationship” with a co-worker.
During the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s time at CNN, I was asked about having a “intentional relationship” with my closest colleague, someone who I have worked with for more than 20 years. “I knew that the relationship had changed over time. At the start of the project, I was supposed to tell people about it, but I didn’t. Was I right? As a result, I will be leaving today.”
Zucker did not reveal the colleague’s name in the memo, but the network said that he worked with chief marketing officer Allison Gollust. Will stay at the company.
“It was January 28, 2013. I went to CNN. Together, we had nine wonderful years “After Zucker finished, he went on to the next thing “I wish I could have ended my time here in a different way. But it was a great run. Loved every minute.”
This is how it looks now: Zucker has been added “I want to say thank you to all the people who worked for CNN and Turner Sports to make this a great time for me and a great success for everyone else. I hope each of you has a wonderful year ahead.”
He said in an email that he has “accepted Jeff Zucker’s resignation as Chairman of WarnerMedia News and Sports, and as President of CNN Worldwide.” This is the CEO of CNN’s parent company, WarnerMedia.
There was a second statement that went on: “We thank Jeff for his work over the last nine years.” “Soon, we will be announcing a plan for interim leadership. Both of these teams are at the top of their game and are ready for their next chapters.”
In the past, Zucker was the president and CEO of NBCUniversal. After Jim Walton left, he took over as president and CEO of CNN Worldwide.
Since 1996, Caryn Nathanson has been his wife and they have two children. They had four kids together.
In the last few days, CNN has been caught up in a scandal. Before Zucker resigned, Cuomo, 51, was fired from his longtime anchor job because of his involvement in defending his brother Andrew Cuomo against sexual misconduct allegations. This was before Zucker resigned.
The former host of Cuomo Prime Time was also accused of sexual misconduct a few days before he was fired, but he said he didn’t do anything wrong.
Before he was charged with crimes, long-time CNN producer John Griffin had been accused of getting women who had young daughters to let them be sexually submissive to him. He could spend at least 10 years in prison on each of his three charges, the New York Post says.
