Elon Musk is being slammed by Anonymous hackers following cryptic cryptocurrency tweets.
Elon Musk appears to be the latest target of a well-known hacker group.
Anonymous, a politically charged hacker group, released a video criticizing SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk for “constantly trolling” cryptocurrency markets.
“For several years, you have had one of the most favorable reputations of anyone in the billionaire class because you have tapped into the desire that many of us have to live in a world with electric cars and space exploration,” a person wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and speaking in a digitally altered voice said in the video, which was posted to Twitter Saturday.
“Recently… people have begun to perceive you as another narcissistic wealthy individual desperate for attention.”
The message comes on the heels of Musk’s latest cryptic tweet about Bitcoin, which devalued the asset on Friday.
“Millions of retail investors were truly relying on their cryptocurrency gains to improve their lives,” the video’s figure stated. “Of course, they took the risk when they invested, and everyone is aware that cryptocurrency is volatile, but your tweets this week demonstrate a complete disregard for the average working person.”
Anonymous, which has been linked to cyber attacks on police departments, politicians, financial institutions, and religions, then issued what appeared to be a general warning to the tycoon.
“You may believe that you are the most intelligent person in the room, but you have met your match. We are an anonymous group! We are numerous. Expect us,” the individual stated.
Musk did not directly address the thinly veiled threat, but shortly after the group’s post, Musk tweeted: “Do not kill what you despise, save what you love.”
